# Cantina joins OpenAI’s call for collective cyber defense > Cantina has signed OpenAI’s call for collective cyber defense, supporting wider access to advanced security capabilities for organizations of every size. Author: Cantina Published: August 28, 2026 Topics: Company news, OpenAI, Cybersecurity, AI security Canonical URL: https://www.cantina.security/blog/openai-collective-cyber-defense We’ve signed [OpenAI’s call for collective action on cyber defense](https://openai.com/collective-cyberdefense/), along with leaders such as Anthropic, AWS, Google, Microsoft and Oracle. What we noticed is that more powerful AI systems could make cyberattacks more common and more sophisticated. The goal is to give organizations better ways to prepare. Small teams defending complex and critical services often can’t afford such sophisticated systems. Teams need the tools to find and fix problems when attackers are moving faster. But buying new software isn’t a solution if there’s no time to keep up with threats and act on them. We started seeing these signals earlier on, more than a year ago. We expected newer models to make malicious cyber activity faster and cheaper. We anticipated the impact on security teams: more work with the same staff and budget. This insight has driven what we’ve built at Cantina ever since. Our focus is and will remain helping security teams identify threats, put fixes in place, and verify that they work. AI capabilities will continue to evolve, we will keep building ways for teams, organizations of any size, and communities to use them for this work, to be able to secure themselves against any and all of the biggest cybersecurity threats. We’re already sharing our knowledge & research to provide feedback to organizations developing advanced AI and help them identify weaknesses. We believe everyone should benefit as stronger security capabilities become available. To discuss your team’s security challenges, [talk to Cantina](/get-a-demo).
